"Heart-pounding, incredibly intense, masterfully done!"
—Greg Kennelty, Metal Injection
Fresh from recording on the new Dillinger Escape Plan album with the legendary metal band, SEVEN)SUNS will take over The Cell on Sunday, April 17 at 4PM to perform an exciting set of new and recent music ranging from Dillinger's 43% Burnt, to Arvo Pärt, their own music, and the Division 1 Young Composer Competition winning piece Great Danger, Keep Out by Matthew Browne.
SEVEN)SUNS is an important emerging string quartet named after an apocalyptic Buddhist prophecy. They bring together two related music subcultures, Metal and Hardcore, into the classically oriented performing arts. The sound of SEVEN)SUNS is, by turns, driven, aggressive, dissonant, and hard-edged as well as contemplative, meditative, still, and serene.
The members of the quartet, Fung Chern Hwei and Amanda Lo, violins; Earl Maneein, viola; Jennifer DeVore, cello, perform their own works, which incorporate Western Art Music, Metal, and Hardcore into their own unique genre, as well as works by other contemporary composers.
On the program:
Summa - Arvo Pärt
Great Danger, Keep Out - Matthew Browne
In Full View - Earl Manneein
Quote Unquote - Mr. Bungle, arr. Patti Kilroy
Malus Olympia - Maneein/Grohowski/Serr
Basher - Earl Maneein
