Tribeca New Music is proud to present the winning scores of the 2018 Young Composer Competition.
Top Scores of 2018 Young Composer Competition:
Piano Trio No. 3: “Ecstatic Samba” (flute, cello & piano) by Kevin Day (age group 21 years old and younger) and Constellations for violin quartet by Ericsson Hatfield (age group 22-35) will be performed on Sunday, December 9 at Nancy Manocherian’s - The Cell theater in NYC. These two works were chosen out of more than 120 submission to the TNM Young Composer Competition.
Two World Premieres:
Pañca for violin and piano by Richard Einhorn, performed by Mary Rowell, violin and Adam Marks, piano.
Songs Without Words for electric guitar and piano by Randall Woolf, performed by James Moore, electric guitar and Kathleen Supové, piano. Commissioned, in part, by public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts, with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature, for the Tribeca New Music 2018 Festival.
Additional works on the program include Karakurenai (piano solo) by Andy Akiho; Jhule (violin & piano) by Reena Esmail; Silver Dagger (violin, cello & piano) by Stacy Garrop; Sam & Lilly (violin quartet) by Ericsson Hatfield; and Spark (piano solo) by Alex Shapiro..
Performing on the concert will be Mary Rowell, Cyrus Beroukhim, Rebecca Anderson, Anna Elashvili, and Alex Shiozaki, violins; Kaoru Kinata, flute; Emily Brausa, cello; James Moore, guitar; Adam Marks, and Kathleen Supové, piano.
